National, State and Local Flags on Overpass
Due to a Nebraska Department of Transportation permit restriction, our flags must be removed from the Court Street Overpass. We will seek an acceptable alternative to display our National, State and Local pride within the City of Gibbon.
Gibbon City Pool Information
The Gibbon City Pool is open! Daily passes are $3.00, individual season passes are $50.00, and family season passes are $100.00. The Gibbon City Pool also offers daycare passes! All passes can be obtained at the Gibbon City Pool during open hours 1:00pm – 8:00pm Saturday through Sunday or at Gibbon City Hall during open hours 8:00am – 4:30pm Monday through Friday. Parties can be booked by calling the Gibbon City Pool at 308-468-5551 or Gibbon City Hall at 308-468-6118.
Summer Yard Information
The City’s yard waste collection area remains open to Gibbon residents Monday through Saturday from 8:00am to 5:00pm. Residents can drop off leaves, grass clippings, garden waste, branches, and small limbs. For access to the area after regular hours 24/7 a resident can purchase a gate card for $25.00 at City Hall.
The garbage company will not dump any garbage dumpsters that contain yard waste. Is it unlawful to dump yard waste and tree limbs along county roads and may be subject to a fine.
Ordinance 94.77 disallows clippings in the street after mowing and property owners are responsible for mowing alleyways abutting their property. Ordinance 91.24 states that lawns must be kept 12 inches or less. For safety concerns and per ordinance 94.5, please keep sidewalks clear of debris, foliage, and tree branches.
Sidewalks that are along the homeowners /renters property line is to be taken care of by that individual. Weeds, grass and debris within the sidewalk area should also to be taken care of by that individual.
Fire Hall / City Hall Project
Thank you, Gibbon! The fire hall/city hall/community center project was approved by voters at the general election held on November 3rd. A half-percent increase in the sales tax rate was also approved to help fund the project. The sales tax increase will go into effect on April 1, 2021.
At the December council meeting, the council approved a resolution selecting the design-build contract delivery system for our building project. We have selected Dana Peterson, Design Build Procure, as our performance-criteria developer. We will be soliciting letters of interest later this month. This is the first step as we move forward with the building project.
Design-Build Timeline for fire hall/city hall/community center:
- February 4, 2021 – Notice of Letters of Interest
- March 18, 2021 – Request for Proposals (RFP)
- March 25, 2021 – Site Meeting with Design Builders
- July 17, 2021 – Interview Design Builders, Evaluate, and Award Contract
- August 15, 2021 – Begin Renovation/Construction on site
